The same thing happens year after year, just as you think vis mig is starting to kick off everything suddenly goes quiet for a couple of weeks. I think the early movement we see is down to dispersion which takes place before the actual vis mig comes into force.
Leeshaw, late afternoon, was very quiet with disturbance from anglers and people from the new camp sight wandering around the private grounds of the reservoir but to be fair the sky was also quiet with very few fly overs and I can,t blame the campers for this.
The north west shore held around 40 BH gulls and 8 LBBs along with 2 Heron. The only sign of movement was several House Martins and Swallow feeding over the water and slowly making their way >SW.
On to Nab Water Lane where again things were the same with a quick Merlin sighting as well as a brown peregrine and 2 very distant Raven. Again no sign of the Stonechat families. Great to meet a blast from the past Dave Barker up there doing a walk about.
Fly Flatts had boaters just packing up so nothing on the water and just a few small gulls at the north end.
It can only get better, hopefully early morn will bring something plus and extra dabble this weekend for Bank Holiday.
