Fly Flatts  0600 - 0900 hrs, then fogged off

A real atmosphere to the place this morning with very still conditions and grey cloud with sun  showing behind the cloud  making everything look black and white. By 0700 hrs drizzle started moving over the moor from the west followed by very low cloud and heavy rain showers. By 0900 hrs it was lights out, the whole area engulfed in dense fog.
Getting any flight photos was out of the question in the silhouette conditions so just managed a few on the deck.
A record 264 Canada geese inc young were out on the water first thing along with 6 LBB gulls.
Usual waders were at the north end where I had to stick due to the Sailing club open day but a walk out west across the moor found several calling Golden Plover and Curlew.
Still no sign of Twite at the feeding station despite regular supplies of Nyger.
2 Goldies flew across the front of the car out of the fog near the boathouse but none seen at Hunter Hill which was just below the cloud base.

5 Common Sandpiper
2 Dunlin
3 Redshank
1 Snipe
7 Curlew
6 Golden Plover
1 Oystercatcher
1 Reed Bunting
264 Canada Geese
11 LBB gulls
+ usual Meadow Pipits etc.
