Harrogate birds
Heading towards the camera
Thanks again to Tracy for sharing these photos with us.
Tracy was on her way to Harrogate, probably shopping, when she spied 2 Red Kites in a field so parked up and got the photos. Well done for always having your camera handy Tracy.
TMR lagoons
A quick after tea visit to check the lagoons at TMR for the Green Sandpiper proved fruitful but lasted about 5 seconds, this has got to be the most mobile Green Sand ever.
On arrival there was nothing to be seen but within a few minutes the bird came in amidst a flock of Swallows
and landed on the nearest lagoon to me immediately taking off again to land on the second lagoon then straight off again heading for the reservoir. I was behind the wall motionless so can,t see that I spooked it but by the time I realized what was happening it was gone without even having time to lift the camera.
Its surprising how much a Green Sandpiper looks like a Swallow when they fly in together.
A report at work today from JC/DD , brother and son in law of HC ( Compo) Bfd birder of a Peregrine moving across Shibden Valley from Green Lane over the weekend, thanks for that John, keep em coming. John also mentioned a dog show he,d been to at Harewood House and was amazed at being surrounded with Red Kites at close range.
Strange how Harewood is only 30 minutes away but Kites are still a rare sighting for this area.
