Whoopers on Ogden reservoir.

First sight, across in the mist and rain.
                                        A noisy one
                                    21 present

                                        Several sleeping looking settled
                                   Been there from yesterday

Fog for morning could keep them down another day.

A terrible day up here on the tops with fog throughout and heavy rain on a light E>3 at 4 degrees.
Another abandoned morning with just a wet and foggy dog walk, then , at 11:12 hours, a text from Nick Small with a video of Whoopers on Ogden. These birds were reported yesterday by Vicky J of the Halifax group and have stayed overnight, held down with the fog.
With thick fog and heavy rain, did I really want to go to Ogden with the off chance of getting some photos, the answer was of course, yes. I had to take the dogs out walking anyway, so knowing Ogden would be quiet in the conditions, for a Sunday afternoon off we went.
Nick was just leaving as I arrived, after doing his usual exercise run about, and the Whoopers were still on the water, but of course at the north end, as usual, meaning a very muddy walk along the east bank and leaving me with 2 dogs to bath when I got back.
The swans looked well settled with several sleeping and with more fog forecast for morning they may stay another night ,though this is rare. There are several sub adults among them.
Many thanks to Nick Small for the alert.
