Should have gone to Leeshaw. Fly Flatts in a gale.

                                        Wild water

A wet job getting through the gate

Can forget any shore up here this spring.

                                    Usual 2 Ringed Plover
                                 1 of 4 Redshank

A howling gale force NW>7 gusting 8 at 34 m.p.h. with clear skies and sunshine at a cold 4 degrees.
Only a handful of species up here this morning compared to Leeshaw reservoir which is only 3 miles to the NW of here. The site this morning was near un-workable due to the strength of the wind making scoping impossible, even behind the shelter of the car.
The long staying pair of Ringed Plover were on the east bank as well as 8 Oystercatchers, whilst 4 Redshank were on the moor with several breeding Lapwing but no Goldies today.
The only sky movement was 2 Herring gulls low over the water and a Kestrel, struggling to hover over the moor. Even the majority of Meadow Pipits seemed to have moved on.
With a forecast next week of easterly winds, rain and fog it looks like Fly Flatts will be put on hold until April at the earliest.
