Drake Common Scoter, Leeshaw
A wet and windy morning at Leeshaw reservoir with full cloud and a mix of rain and drizzle throughout on a brisk SW>4 at 12 degrees.
With a good wind blowing, complete with rain, I thought that Leeshaw was my best bet for gulls or Terns passing through or dropping in. The best I could do was a single drake Common Scoter out on the water which remained throughout the watch.
No big gulls at all and just 5 Black Headed on the shore with no sign of small waders. Lapwings were on the shore, some still with small chicks, along with 6 Oystercatchers but all the Redshank and Curlew have now gone.
A group of 38 Greylags were in the newly mown goose field but otherwise just down to the usual species.
On then to the Sladen Valley to check Lower Laithe reservoir which also had only small gulls with 26 Black Headed on the shore along with around 50 Lapwing and 4 Cormorant. Apart from the usual Greylags and Canadas nothing else of interest to be found
This is the first blog on the new laptop after a gruelling task of recovering the blog and sorting everything out. Windows 11 seems to have a mind of its own moving thing about as it pleases.
I.m still struggling with photos although it will download from the camera, in a fashion, but no way of getting Picasa back as yet.
