29 Golden Plover>W
just 3 Ringed Plover present
Surprisingly, a clear morning given the light NE>2 at 6 degree with full cloud cover.
A much quieter day after an initial blast off of yesterdays Whoopers which left the area early morn at around 0800 hrs. Driving to Fly Flatts a skein of 18 Whoopers flew over the school at Bradshaw heading >N but by the time I stopped and launched myself out of the car they were too far out for a photo. Passing Mixenden I saw that yesterdays Whoopers had already gone along with the Ogden swans which had been reported leaving earlier.
Just 3 Ringed Plover showing at Fly Flatts with the other 4 either moved on or somewhere around the banking out of sight. The highlight of the morning was a group of 18 Golden Plover flying a circuit of the water before heading off >W whilst a female Goosander flew over >N before returning >S 15 minutes later.
Otherwise it was down to 2 Oystercatchers in the boatyard plus the usual Canadas, Barnacles and Mallard. The only raptor of the morning was a Buzzard low over the west moor flushing all the Curlew and Lapwings.
