Redcar Tarn Caspian / Ogden

REDCAR TARN.                                      A good count of Herrings today
                                                Several smart looking Tufteds.

                                            2nd winter Caspian gull
Swarms of Black Headed and Commons

                              Squabbling amongst  the Herrings

A real blustery day but dry and mild at 7 degrees on a moderate S>5 with dark skies.
A much better show of gulls this morning with around 100 Herrings , some on the water but several across in the fields once again facing the south wind so backs to me.
Hard work at the moment with so many very white headed first and second year Herrings making you think you,re onto a Caspian although when you do see a Caspian they tend to stand out.
The 2nd winter Caspian that has been present on and off since October(KM) was present in the crematorium grounds.
There must have been over 2000 Black Headed and Commons along with a massive flock of around 300 Lapwing but no special wildfowl other than the usual species.
Tons of photos now to trawl through to see if I,d missed anything.
A quick check on Ogden late afternoon found it very dark, very windy and very damp with nothing much in the way of bird life other than a good count of 11 Herrings out on the choppy water.
