Early morning Mackerel skies over Fly Flatts.
Still snow on the west bank
SE corner, launching ramp
Driftwood still getting washed up from the ancient forest.
SE marshes.
At last, a near clear morning at Fly Flatts with a very low cloud base blanking out the wind turbines
with a W>3 and drizzle turning to rain at 2 degrees.
Unbelievably, 2 hours at Fly Flatts including a full length walk of the west bank produced not a single bird of any species with nothing on the water, in the air or on the deck.
Even the 2 resident Carrion Crows failed to show, this must be some sort of record to achieve a completely blank sheet.
By the time I got back down the road near Wainstalls the sky was alive with small gulls and Corvids.
Oh well, at least I got plenty seed down ready for my next trip.
Later on in the morning Pinkies were moving which would have over flown Soil Hill but I was back home by that time and saw none over Queensbury despite a text from my early warning station with a skein reported by Peter Turner east to west over Tesco, Buttershaw at 11.56 hrs but not sure how many as this could have been the 18 over Soil Hill at 12.05 (DJS) or the 100 over Ovenden at 12.00 (JS) or a seperate skein altogether. Thank for the shout Peter.
No second session again today as I still had my 'Mr Shift it' head on getting the daughter settled after her move.
Light SE and showers for tomorrow which smells like fog.
