Leeshaw a.m./Ogden p.m.

A half decent morning weather wise at Leeshaw with cloudy skies on a S>5 at 10 degrees. By 1000 hrs the wind turned SW>6 bringing light rain and drizzle.
No Wigeon showing today and just a group of 36 Canadas with the Greylags still somewhere in the fields, probably at Upper Marsh.
A mix of big gulls were on the water along with the usual mass of small gulls but otherwise things were quiet. The conditions looked good for Kittiwake but not to be.
Late afternoon and still with Kittiwakes in mind I took a look at Ogden in atrocious conditions with torrential rain followed by horizontal drizzle driven on a W>6 but more sheltered on the west bank.Even so, the car park was still jammed.
Very few gulls on the water with 3 big gulls and the rest BHGs with just a couple of Commons.
A single female Teal was out in the centre of the water near the north end and very difficult to see in the swell of the water whilst a female Wigeon was sheltering under the north banking.
Understandably there was no sign of the tit flock in the conditions with just a few Blackbirds which looked slim enough and smart enough to be continentals
Good to bump into Dan B as I was leaving and as we stood dripping on the prom we both agreed that we should be certified being out in that weather but thats the stuff that can drop you a prize onto the water but not today. Well done to Dan for getting out and giving it a go.
