Easterlies bring more fog. Leeshaw a.m./ Fly Flatts p.m.

2 of 5 Pinkies still at Leeshaw.
Yesterdays 3 Wigeon were present in the goose field.

With the wind back to the SE, in rolled the fog which was dense up on the tops.
Leeshaw was just below the cloud base but very dull and drizzly on a calm SE>2 at 10 degrees.
A turn of luck this morning with all the geese in the large wintering field where they could be checked through at ease. Just short of 400 today with 75% Greylag and 25% Canadas with geese arriving constantly.
The 5 Pink Footed from yesterday were in with the Greylags, as were the 3 Wigeon and several Mallard. All this plus around 100 small gulls made the field look quite full.
The water held 3 Cormorant and around 200 small gulls plus a female Goosander whilst 2 Dippers were down in the beck.
Being a glutton for punishment I headed for Fly Flatts with the fog cleared but very black skies and light showers. By 1500 hrs it was almost dark and the rain coming on heavier.
Even less birds than yesterday and absolutely nothing in the sky or on the water.
Its looking like Fly Flatts will have to be put on a back burner for a while apart from keeping the seed topped it.
