Better weather, shame about the fog. Fly Flatts.

A decent morning weather wise with just what the doctor ordered, full grey skies, a moderate SW>4 and light rain throughout. The afternoon was another thing with my delivery of rain and grey skies arrived but they,d put a free sample of fog in with it which I didnt order. Late afternoon gave me just time for a walk about and scope all the shorelines before the wind eased and the low cloud base dropped blanking out visibility.
Despite the near perfect moving conditions this morning the shorelines were empty other than a single Lapwing on the east end water line though to be fair the juv Peregrine was perched on the mud at the NE end so if anything had been present it would have been flushed by the time I arrived.
The weather had got the gulls moving with a steady flow, throughout the morning watch, of LBBs, Herrings and BHGs all >SW over the water whilst Swallows were moving >NW in good numbers but no Swifts today.
Otherwise, as with this afternoon, it was just down to Canadas and Greylags with Common Scoters noticeable by their absence this year.
At least the torrential rain at tea time will have topped the ponds at Fly Flatts up nicely. Rain and strong westerlies for tomorrow which will hopefully get rid of the fog.
