With thick fog in Queensbury and even more so at Fly Flatts I reluctantly donned the waterproofs, got the coats on the dogs, threw the 70 -200 canon round my neck and headed for Ogden, more by desperation than choice.
Ogden was just below the cloud base with the tops of the trees blanked out in fog with very dark conditions and heavy drizzle throughout. The reservoir perimeter path was very boggy resulting in me having 3 dogs to bath when I got home.
Bird wise it was poor with just 14 Black Headed gulls, 11 Commons,1 juv Herring and an adult Lesser Black Backed along with the usual mallards and 1 juv Cormorant.
The only passerines were Robins, Dunnocks, Great and Blue tits.
At least I got out and the team got a good walk but I,ll be hoping for a clear day tomorrow to get back to Fly Flatts.
Regular vis mig reports are now coming in of Redwing and Fieldfare so the first clear window across the North sea should see them piling through probably after the weekend.
