After a third check today of the Russell Rd House Martin breeding colony there were again no signs of them. They have bred in this location since the year dot until about 2 year ago when they suddenly disappeared until this year when they were seen by NK gathering mud from the nearby building estate but when I checked a day later there was no sign and another two checks came up with the same.
This is possibly due to several of the houses in the area had wood overhangs which have now been replaced with pvc fascias.
There were several House Martins high above the mill midday but these were movers and not local birds.
With a weekend off from house renovation hopefully I,ll be able to liven this boring blog up a bit with some serious reservoir and sky watching.
Hope you all have a good one.
