Local Whitethroats summer 2012
Another of those dreaded hot still days with clear blue skies and soaring temperatures, so far its looking like next Wed/Thursday before we get back to normal.
A quick check around Corporal Hill, Green Lane, Shibden Top and Tracys Wheatear field this evening was hampered with the weather trying to gaze into blinding sun, so much so that the camera never came out of the bag.
Good news on the local Little Owls that the 2 young have now flown and could just be seen in a distant dead tree with 1 of the adults. More than likely they,ll move away in the next few days.
Whitethroats have done well at Shibden top with at least 2 pairs having successfully bred and still feeding young. Six House Martins were also over this site.
Black Headed gulls were starting to show in the new mown fields along with plenty Jackdaws.
A Sparrowhawk was over the house last night trying its luck with the Swifts but soon gave it up as a bad job.
