Plenty young Pheasants around
1 of 5 Common Sandpipers
Skies alive with Curlew
Some low

Skimming the moor before heading towards Fly Flatts

No pale mantled as yet
Lapwings in off the moor
Juv LBB gull
Gulls down at Stubden res.
The dreaded heatwave has arrived as promised and is threatening to go on up to 2 weeks, being selfish I,ve had enough of it already, its not good for birding, the dogs hate it and it tends to bring all the nuggets out.
It was even hot up at TMR this tea time with a slight W>2 and millions of midges and flying ants.
Apart from all that the birding proved good with up to 250 LBBs and c50 BHgs around the water and several more down below at Stubden.
All the gulls moved off slowly >NW whilst around 100 Lapwings came in off the moor to the waters edge.
Curlews were the bird of the day coming in from the east , some stopping off at the water, others going straight through >W. Around 100 birds counted.
No shoreline so waders were down to 5 Common Sandpipers and a few Pied Wagtails.
Strange to see a Moorhen up there although I have had them on the ponds in the past.
