Another very icy slippery morning at Ogden with Ogden Lane still passable with caution and the car park was open although I chose to park at the end of the lane in the icy conditions. The road down past the info centre had been partly salted but the promenade and west bank were hazardous underfoot.
Other than the underfoot ice it was a pleasant morning with near full cloud and hints of sunshine on a light SE>2 at 0 degrees.
First bird over was a Sparrowhawk above the info centre whilst a Raven was cronking from the top of a distant tree in the plantation. A surprise to get a flock of 23 Redwing over the plantation heading >W, a rare sighting this winter in this area, along with Fieldfare.
Plenty Tit activity along the west bank waterside trees whilst a small group of 8 Redpoll were working their way along the tree tops, where are the Siskin this winter?
Back at the feeders there were several Gt, Blue and Coal Tits along with 6 Blackbirds and a single Nuthatch.
The forecast for tomorrow is promising fog rolling in tonight at 1900 hrs bringing a good chance of snow lasting overnight until midday tomorrow on a moderate NE at 2 degrees.
When there was lying snow in Queensbury the saying use to be, " Tha'll no'en get shut o't snow till some more comes to tek it away, tha'sees its nobbut barn to go on its own".
