A lovely winters morn at Ogden with full sun in a clear blue sky on a NW>4 at a biting cold minus 2 degrees.
The cold snap seemed to have done the trick at moving birds around with 8 Canada geese arrived on the water as well as 5 Tufted duck and around 80 small gulls, mostly Black Headed, along with a single Herring gull.
A nice little group of 10 Redpoll were in the Alders, until CS came round on his quad bike to empty the bins, but still a shortage of Siskin. A Grey Wagtail was down in the frozen overflow whilst a Mistle Thrush was making half an attempt of singing.
A single Kingfisher was down in the sluice gate area but no Dippers seen today, otherwise down to the usual common woodland species. With temperatures down to minus 4 degrees overnight I was hoping for some ice on the reservoir to get some standing gulls, but not as yet.
A last light dog walk through the fields to Old Guy Road produced a single Stonechat on the wire fence.
Another bright sunny morning forecast for tomorrow showing full sun on a moderate NW wind kicking off at minus 4 degrees.
