Harold Park/Park Dam

PARK DAM

                                        12 Goosanders present

                                    Single Gt Crested Grebe
HAROLD PARK
                                        6 Goosanders
                                        13 Herring Gull
                                        12 Mute Swan

Dense fog on the tops as expected so down to Harold Park where visibility was good though dark full cloud with a moderate E>4 at 4 degrees.
With the top entrance to Park Dam now gone I took NKs route to bring me out at the bottom end of the dam. Unfortunately, due to an overflow, there is no access to get to the top end of the dam which is much closer to the birds so a bit disappointing.
No gulls present this morning but 12 Goosander and 9 Tufted were on the water as well as the new arrival of a Great Crested Grebe. Otherwise just a single Mute Swan and the usual Mallards .
Back at Harold Park there were 12 Mute Swan, including 3 juvs, as well as 35 Tufted, 6 Goosander and a single Cormorant, along with the usual park lake species.
Just a low count of gulls with around 40 Black Headed, 13 Herring and 4 LBB gulls whilst the trees held several Chaffinch and Long Tailed Tits.
A forecast for morning of a low chance of rain and sleet on a moderate ESE at 3 degrees and of course, not forgetting the fog. The fog looks to continue into February with the wind continuing to come from the east.
