A misty Fly Flatts

FLY FLATTS            Low cloud base over The Nab
                                    Very few islands left now
Just enough for a passing Tern or Kittiwake
                                    Brightness creeping in
                                    Turbines fogged out
Not many Common gull up here
                                    Too many Peregrines

                                Hence the term, 'Crows Nest'
                                    Distant noisy Raven
                                    Nice group of Meadow Pipits

                                    1 of 3 Stonechat

A slow start at Fly Flatts with light mist and drizzle lifting to leave a low cloud base on a light SW>3 at a mild 7 degrees. Clearer skies by 0900 hrs with patches of blue.
An active morning with nothing extreme but enough to keep the interest going. A small group of 14 Meadow Pipits were present but not sure if these are over-wintering birds or just brought down by the fog. Also in the compound were 3 Stonechat, 1 Wren and a single Reed Bunting
Nothing on the water other than 27 Mallard which fly in each morning from their roost down in Dean Head. Just 3 separate gulls over, with a Common, a Black Headed and a Herring, all >SW, the Common being unusual at this site.
Otherwise, the 2 local Raven flew over Fill Belly Flat closely followed by a Peregrine which flew towards Cold Edge Dams.
Several reports of Waxwing on RBA  so check out those berry trees. There are several well packed Rowens around but the 2 hot spot Rowans at Lane Head, Brighouse are fruitless.
