Fly Flatts on ice, a.m./ p,m.

                                   Plenty Fieldfare present

4 Great Black Backed gulls over.

                    Good accumulation of Mallard

Low tide, bring on the waders.

A treacherous drive up to Fly Flatts this morning but bright clear skies with some early sun before being blanked out with cloud. The wind was W >5 but decreased and turned to NW>3 by late p.m.
With the temp at 1 degree the ponds were frozen over and the track very ice.
A bit livelier this morning with a good passage of gulls over as well as several Woodpigs and 2 Raven. The Withins field was once again full of Fieldfare and Starlings.
Late afternoon and a dog walk around Foxhill then a sneak off to Fly Flatts dog less so I could check the south and west bank with Snow Bunting the target bird.
The south shore and half way on the west bank is ankle deep in mud whilst work is underway and next week part of the west bank is to be excavated but it was good to get on there after a long absence
with a walk right on to the NW corner.
The Snow bunting let me down but some consolation with a pair of Stonechat down by the round tower below the west bank but very mobile and keeping their distance.
I thought the skies looked good for a Pinkie movement today but that never developed either.
Despite being quiet it was good to be able to get up there with clear skies watching and waiting and another day nearer busier times.
When I got home I had to take the dogs another walk and play ball to make up for leaving them behind.
