A frustrating morning as expected at Fly Flatts with thick fog clearing periodically by 0815 hrs but banks of fog and mist rolling in throughout the watch only giving short periods of visibility to scan the area. The icy cold E >4 was still blowing.
With the water well up now the east banking is so much further away making viewing difficult in the poor light but it looks like the Wigeon have moved on with just the Mallards present along with a single , very vocal, Canada goose and no sign of Goldies.
A small group of 5 Herring gulls flew over the water below the cloud base heading >SE whilst 2 Stonechat were in the boatyard watched over by a Kestrel on one of the masts.
An e mail from DS reported a skein of Pink Footed Geese yesterday over Queensbury heading >W midday so the December trans Pennine move may have started if the fog up here ever clears enough to see the sky. Thanks for that Denise.
