Fly Flatts, Sunday last light.

Greylags, unusual visitors for Fly Flatts
                                             Single distant Teal

1of 2 Red Grouse on the west bank
                                       Then away over the water
The 3 Greylags silhouetted in the setting sun
                                                         off towards Cold Edge Dams.

                                         The sun goes down
                                         The moon comes up.

1445 hrs at Fly Flatts in much improved conditions with clear blue skies and sunshine so only the cold E>4 to contend with.
With boats on the water the Mallard had moved to the north end of the water making them easier to check through and count with a total of 78 Mallard and 1 Teal. 3 Greylag were unusual visitors outside the breeding season but made off at sunset towards Cold Edge Dams so probably locals rather than movers.
14 Black Headed gulls came in from the west to settle on the water briefly before moving off >NE whilst 2 Red Grouse were near the waters edge on the west bank before heading back to the moor.
No Goldies in the area today and no sign of Pinkies in what looked like perfect moving skies.
Another weekend done and now just less than 5 weeks to the shortest day. Lights out at Fly Flatts at the moment is around 1600 hrs and earlier if its a dull cloudy day.
I,m up there first light on Sundays and last light every day and no Short Eared or Barn Owls have been seen for several weeks now.
