In search of the Firecrest

                                            Here comes the cavalry   DJS
                                       Ogden in colour

A visit to Ogden  at 1500hrs found still some sunshine left and the wind eased considerably.
A few Goldcrests were about and small tit flocks but the large flock containing Goldcrests, Long Tailed tits, Bullfinches , Gt and Blue tits which the Firecrest had joined in with was not to be found. Perhaps the flock had been pushed further into the plantation due to last nights thunder and hail storm plus a busy afternoon with the public in the area.
I expected the area to be alive with birders today for such a find but perhaps everyone was out christmas shopping.
Well done to Denise S for searching a.m. and p.m. and lovely to meet her there and search together before bumping into DJS with the same target in mind. Yesterdays finder DF was also on the search trail this morning.
Whilst we were there I got a call from the owner of the Queensbury Tawny Owls area saying that both birds were now back at the roost, watch this space for photos.
Back to Colditz tomorrow so no birding for me but hopefully someone will turn the Firecrest up during the week.
