Goldies back at Shelf Moor

Good to get the Golden Plovers back

                                   Up to 15 present

Starlings and Lapwings enjoying a bath
Goldies, gulls, starlings  and lapwings all well spread out

A bright cold day throughout with blue skies and wall to wall sunshine after a heavy white frost this morning.
Woodpigeons were moving but mostly to the north and south of me where good counts were coming in but I remained on small numbers.
A quick check of the Lapwings at Shelf Moor in Tracys Wheatear field by the trailer park at lunchtime gave a count of at least 215 Lapwings and a bonus of 15 Golden Plovers. Also present were around 50 Starlings and 12 BH gulls but hard to get a good count as the birds were well spaced out over 4 fields, the Goldies being a distance away 2 fields back.
A nice surprise this afternoon when DCB called in the garage on his way cycling past, good to see you Dave.
Negative news on the Firecrest today despite a few birders searching although I,m sure it will stick around and be turned up again.
