Oxenhope revisited

                                             female Goosanders
                                             juv on the right
This shot was taken laid in the grass with the lens through a gap in the fence

With grapevine messages coming in from Calderbirds of possible Curlew Sandpiper and Wigeon around the area I thought Id better get back up to Oxenhope late afternoon to see what was happening.
It was a much better afternoon up there than yesterday with dark clouds breaking up the sunshine and a cold S>5 with clear visibility.
The 100+ Mallards were still on the lagoon obviously unable to fly whilst in the moult whilst several Meadow Pipits had arrived in the area ready for moving south.
Nice to get Goosander back with 3 females inc 1 juv lazing in the nw corner whilst another 3 were on the water. It,ll be some time yet before the males return.
Gull numbers were well down with about 30 BHGs and 10 LBBs whilst at least 2 Curlew called from the moor.
Swallows were coming through in good numbers strangely heading >N and 2 Kestrels were hovering over the banking.
