Ogden / Ringby Top

Over Halifax to Saddleworth Moor from Ringby
                                    Towards Ovenden Moor
                                                  Ditto
                                          Ditto
                                              Soil Hill
                                            Ringby Quarry

                                         Dark clouds approaching

With the westerly wind blowing strong I headed for Ogden which turned out to be a bad move as the place was heaving preparing for an organized 10k run around the area so it was a quick check of the water and passerine alley and away before the crowds came.
Gulls and Mallards were the only birds on and around the water whilst passerine alley was busy with several Wrens, Robins, Tits and a few Goldcrest so worth keeping an eye on from now.
Back up to Ringby to a howling near gale force W>7 keeping any chance of vis mig at bay with just a few Swallows ground skimming >S.
Linnets were everywhere with an estimated 200 mainly around the quarry area but several feeding on the rubble piles which are well vegetated with wild flowers. Up to 50 Goldfinch were also after an abundance of thistle tops.
This area is like Soil Hill used to be and is sure to fetch Snow Bunting in the winter.
No sign of the Whinchat today.
