Birds from June 2012

                                   Ogden Willow Warbler   2012
                                         Ogden Crossbills, 2012

                                           Whitethroat, Ogden 2012

Breeding success, Fly Flatts Common Sandpiper

Male Twite, Fly Flatts , 2012

June 2012 seemed much livelier than this year with many more sightings reported.
Common Sandpipers bred well whereas this year the water levels are up so most birds have moved on.
Twite numbers had dwindled last year to a handful but are near none existent this year despite regular supplies of  seed.
A few Crossbill have been seen this year but nothing doing on the Whinchat/ Stonechat scene.
Soon be July now and we can start to look forward to wader movement and dispersion leading up to autumn vis mig.

A report at work today of a Cuckoo calling yesterday evening down Brewery Lane near to Woodleigh rest home. Same area as one reported a few years back. Been a good number of years now since they were heard in Shibden Valley
