Ogden Reservoir

                                    Clear over the tops today

                                    1 pair of Teal

Several small gulls
BH with steel leg ring, plastic ring missing
                                    LBB gull
These white birds had me going
                                    Pigeons.

A bright clear morning at Ogden on a light NW>2 at 6 degrees with 20% cloud and sunshine.
The steady flow of wildfowl continued, after the previous Shoveler, then Wigeon, with a pair of Teal on the water but, as always, keeping well out in the centre. The, now resident, female Goosander was present, looking like its a possible non flyer going by the time it been at this site.
A Dipper and Grey Wagtail were down in the sluice gate area but no sign of the Kingfisher at its winter perch as yet. The trees along the east and west banks were void of birds other than Robin, Wren, Dunnock and Blackbird with the alders remaining empty.
Gull-wise, around 150 Black Headed and Common mixed but only 4 Herring and 2 LBBs, one Black Headed wearing a right leg steel ring but the plastic code ring unfortunately missing.
A flock of fast flying white birds flew over, high above the water, getting the adrenalin going until I found them to be racing pigeons.
A text from my Shelf Moor lookout man Peter Turner reported a skein of Pinks over Shelf Moor Queensbury bound but must have veered to the east or west of Ogden leaving me stood on the promenade, camera posed at the ready, but goose-less. Thanks for the call once again Peter.
Another bright morning with a light northerly expected tomorrow and good visibility.
