Plenty gulls but all Black Headed and Common
A beautiful autumnal/winter morning at Ogden with the bright sun bringing out the colours of the leaves on the trees. Clear blue skies clouding slightly by 0945 hrs on a light NW>2 at 7 degrees.
A good supply of gulls with around 200 scattered all around the water and shorelines but all Black Headed and Commons with no big gulls present. No new wildfowl on the water today other than 2 Canada geese and the usual Mallards and Goosander.
A full circuit of the waterside track produced very little with the west bank alders again void of birds but a group of 6 Siskin were very flighty over the east bank tree canopy but disappeared deeper into the wood. Otherwise it was down to the usual expected woodland species along with a few Long Tailed Tits. Where have all the Jays and Green Woodpeckers disappeared to from this site which were once common every visit. ?
Just when we thought it was safe to get the scope and tripod out, the forecast for morning is mist and fog with a day of heavy cloud on a moderate sou'wester.
