Blizzard conditions at Ogden
Time to abort.
Few BHGs and Commons at Mixenden.
As expected from yesterdays forecast strong winds and heavy snow swept across the area this morning
with the snow just starting as I arrived at Ogden blown through on a strong SW>5 at 3 degrees.
After 15 minutes into the watch the snow was coming down like half crowns and looking serious so time to abort and get out of there.
The roads home were bad with cars and wagons already stuck up the hill on Halifax/Keighley road and the hill up to Keelham. Luckily I managed to keep going and made it back with an empty note book.
Mixenden was much kinder weather wise but just nothing to get the adrenaline going
with a low count of small gulls on the water and not a wildfowl present of any sort.
Plenty passerine activity in the northern hedge with a flock of around 40 birds moving the length of the hedge but only the usual Chaffinch, Gt,Coal and Blue Tits along with Robins and Dunnocks. A Heron and Sparrowhawk flew over the Raggalds on my way home.
A possible respite in the weather tomorrow with a dry forecast but strong Westerly.
