Life ain,t easy for an upland birder.

Fly Flatts                          A wintry looking Nab
                                                          west bank
                                      A snowy feeding station.
Driving on the top road was dicey
                                     A favourite corner for ditching.
                                              Entrance gate.
                                          Cold Edge road towards Oxenhope.
                                           Wind turbine station.

A very wintry scene at Fly Flatts this morning first light at 0 degrees with a moderate W>5 but blue sky and bouts of sunshine.
A good walk the length of the reservoir in pleasing conditions going by Fly Flatts standards though finding any bird life was difficult which seems to be the trend around the area lately as we wait for kick off.
A few hardy Grouse were on the moor whilst a noisy Raven was over the quarry along with the 2 long staying resident Crows. A Sparrowhawk did a quick fly past along with 3 Stock Dove whilst 3 Herring gull headed high and >NE.
Several Common gulls were in the Nolstar field but a poor winter for Golden Plover and its looking a bit sad for Pink Footed geese so far this year although I had a few late skeins in February last year. Hopefully we,ll get a big blast off as well as Whoopers.
