Fly Flatts a.m. / p.m. ( no public access)

Just enough water left to support wildfowl.
If only it was wader season with this shoreline.
                                  Swarms of Woodpigeons

The weather was back to normal at Fly Flatts today after yesterdays strong winds with a much calmer SW>5 and drizzle with low scud clouds blanking out any sun and blue skies. The late afternoon watch was cut short due to the fog rolling in over the moor.
Birds of the morning were Woodpigeons heading >S low over the moor with 2 large flocks of around 300 and 200 birds making an amazing sight. Hard to say whether these birds were late movers or come out of a large roost somewhere.
A single Reed Bunting was near the entrance track as well as a pair of Stonechat whilst a noisy Raven was overhead heading towards the Nab.
A good count of 43 Mallard on the water carefully checked for an odd Wigeon, Shoveler or Pintail but not to be.
A threat of snow tomorrow which could be interesting as long as the fog clears.
