Fieldfare
Skies full of Jackdaws
1445 hrs and up to Ringby Top on a dull and gloomy afternoon. A strong SW>5 was blowing but visibility on the hill itself was good apart from poor light although sky watching was out with deep haze surrounding the hill so no Great White Egret this week.
An entertaining hours watch with nothing exotic but enough to keep me occupied throughout. The Wagtail field was the pick of the bunch holding Fieldfare, Redwing, Pied Wagtail, Meadow Pipit and Starling plus the usual corvids and gulls etc.
The track held Robin, Dunnocks, Meadow Pipits and a single Stonechat whilst in the air a Sparrowhawk then Kestrel made brief appearances amongst the corvids, small gulls plus Herring and LBBs.
7 Fieldfare
2 Redwing
2 Pied Wagtail
1 Stonechat
14 Meadow Pipit
2 Herring gull
9 LBB gull
Tons of Starling, Small gulls, Corvids.
Meanwhile, going back to Ringby Top 24th, 25th 26th Feb 2017 , remember DJSs Snow Bunting find causing a bit of a twitch amongst the locals.
The crowds came from miles around. Slow start but it
was a 3 day event. You can sense the excitement !!!!
We all had to share my tripod.
Top Man Dave Franz is onto something with Dave Sutcliffe
thinking, " Hes looking the wrong way"
Oh Oh , Daves seen me. Michael Welch in the
background starting to look bored.
Ey Up, the gaffers here, Nick Dawtrey.
And this little beauty is what all the fuss was about.
Time for another one now, no pressure Dave but 43 grapeviners are awaiting your call.
