For 6 days now fog has hung over Queensbury and the western uplands completely blanking off Fly Flatts . Prior to the fog a week of snow and ice made Fly Flatts unreachable so no birding there since early December. Queensbury must be the only place that can have high winds and fog at the same time as it did today.
Ogden, late afternoon, in contrast to yesterday, was quiet with all yesterdays specials moved on. Plenty gulls to check through but nearly all BHGs and Commons with just 2 interesting birds, a very pale 1st winter Herring gull and a very late juvenile Black Headed gull moulting into winter plumage. Around 200 gulls on the water and near enough the same number coming through from the south, some stopping on the water whilst others headed straight to the Oxenhope roost.
The resident single Canada goose was still present along with Mallards whilst the Moorhen was under the edges in the duck feeding area. Just 6 Chaffinch in the car park tree.
