1500 hrs and with dense fog and heavy drizzle in Queensbury I wondered, is it really worth it but the dogs needed their tea time walk and I needed my tea time fix so a dash to Ogden with about 30 minutes of light left.
Ogden was not too back compared to previous visits with the fog showing as heavy mist but enough visibility to see across the water, just. A fine drizzle was falling in calm conditions but the light was terrible.
The pair of Teal from yesterday that had broken away from the group of 10 were still present at the north end along with the Little Grebe thats been present a couple of weeks now.
Big gull wise there was just a single LBB with around 100 small gulls on the water and several passing overhead moving towards Oxenhope,.
A flock of just over 40 Fieldfare came in from the south doing a high circuit of the water before dropping into the plantation to roost. These are the first winter thrushes Ive had since the initial first sightings.
So another of those horrible days when you dont feel like turning out but glad you did once you,ve made the effort as DJS found out today doing Mixenden in the same conditions and turning up a male Goldeneye to join the long staying female there.
A nice surprise at the garage this morning when Angela, of the Angela/ Gary team dropped into the garage to give me a Christmas cake that she had kindly made for me, even down to the Penguins binoculars. Thanks so very much for the lovely thought.
