Another day, another fog bank.

Ogden, way out in the fog, 12 Teal

As always, sticking to the middle of the water

You,ll have to excuse the photos
but I did,nt have an Infra Red camera with me.
Preening time for the Black Headeds

Another day of fog banks up here on the top of the world with once again the worst of the fog being along the western ridge stretching from Huddersfield right along the ridge to Oxenhope.
Ogden at 1500 hrs was very dark and drizzly with poor visibility to half way across the water. Less gulls than yesterday with around 200 small gulls and no large gulls at all. Thinking it was going to be a near re run of yesterdays visit when a string of ducks came in to view. They were drifting about in the centre of the water and not acting like Mallard and as they came a bit further out of the mist I could see there were 12 Teal.
A saving grace at last after the last few visits so once again persistence has paid off. I had only the 300mm with me , leaving Big Bertha at home due to the light, or lack of it, so a few record shots then I thought I would give the 2x converter a go if I could get enough light in. I got the lens set then the usual happened, someone decided to stop and talk about photography and when they had gone after 5 minutes so had the Teal. I never saw them fly so I presume that they had drifted back into the gloom at the north end not to be seen again.
Finishing on a bright note on a gloomy night, its the shortest day tomorrow so at last we,re heading the right way. All we have to do now is get rid of this dreaded fog which could even linger on over Christmas if the temperature does,nt fall or the wind get up.
