Saturday Blues

A half decent start to the day with a lively vis mig watch before and to work then all downhill from there. With yet another vet appointment late afternoon,( this is going to bankrupt me,) once again interfering with my afternoon birding session it was a quick look at the nearest venue to Pellon Lane vets which was Fly Flatts, bad choice.
Boats were out on the water as expected Saturday afternoon and good to see another good turnout as the Saturday sailing season nears an end. What I did,nt expect was the gun nerds all down the south end , below the feeding station and on the flat moor which was disappointing, even more so for the poor easy target birds that were getting blown away.
On then to the north end where several dog walkers were down the footpath with off lead dogs in and out of the water putting an end to any birding at Fly Flatts for today thank you very much.
All that was left was a walk on the top road as far as Nab Water Lane but apart from Mipits not a bird in sight due to the blasting of guns sounding  like Bagdad on a Sunday morning.
Nothing else for it but to call it a day and head for the vets to get my wallet lowered again.
On a bright note 11 Skylark were in the field below Nolstar obviously on passage.

A search by Angela and Gary at Whiteholme today failed to turn up the Bairds Sandpiper and yesterdays Dunlin.

Good news on Vicki,s Little Egret which has stayed on at Ogden giving good views today, NK, a mega rare bird for this location which I would have expected to cause more interest amongst local birders.
