The first signs of vis mig this morning other than previous mornings of Hirundines and Swifts.
A flock of 15 Linnet came over 0630 ish >W soon to be followed by 6 very high Skylarks also >W. Otherwise Common gulls are increasing in numbers in Foxhill park from first light before moving on by 0800 hrs. This mornings count was 38 which will increase into the 70s by November.
Grand daughter duties this p.m. so only time to check the water at Ogden on the way home with her. Swallows were piling over >SW with some in migration mode and others feeding over the trees surrounding the water. Around 100 Black Headed, 16 Lesser Black Backed and 5 Common was the gull count with no Canadas on the water today. I always have a good scan at the NE corner for history repeating itself with a return of a Little Egret but not to be so far.
On the way home I checked the Roper Lane Redstart site and was pleased to find a Spotted Flycatcher and 2 Willow Warbler/ Chiffchaff types but these were all on the far corner of the plantation . A few small birds were darting about in the trees but possibly Tits.
