1600 hrs before I could break free this afternoon so with the strong E>6 blowing I thought there was a chance of Snow Bunting on Soil Hill so off I went.
The only thing the easterly blew in was hail showers which were frequent but only lasting around 15 minutes each. Several shower clouds could be seen in the distance all around the 360 deg viewed.
A single Meadow Pipit was near the mounds along with 2 Skylark whilst a cock Pheasant was flushed.
Several gulls were heading for the Oxenhope roost and later I got a call from Chris King reporting an adult Kittiwake in amongst the roost.
As I was ready for leaving I heard wader calls and spotted 21 Golden Plover flying high over the NE corner of the hill and dropping down into the excavation area so at least I know that the Queensbury Goldie flock , which I thought had moved on, are still present but elusive.
