Queensbury, Milder weather = Fog

As good as it got today, Foxhill park lunchtime

                                      Barn Owl wing, not local.

Milder weather overnight brought dense fog to the village today clearing slightly late afternoon only to return with light rain after dark. Hopefully the rain will shift the snow.
Roy M , blog watcher and a good source of informative local reports spends quite a bit of time walking around the York/ Malton area and brought this section of a Barn Owls wing into the garage today. A farmer he knows in Malton has Barn Owls roosting and nesting in his out buildings and Roy found this wing from one which looked to have died from natural causes some while ago.
The farmer is real bird friendly with strips of wild flowers along the edges of his fields , part of his fields left as wetland to attract Lapwings, hedges all around his land as well as several nest boxes up.
Roy says the worst thing about the area is seeing the amount of Barn Owl, Buzzard, Deer and Badger etc at the side of the railway track having been hit by trains.
Too foggy for any reports on the Raggalds Goldies today but hopefully they,ll still be around if the fog ever clears.
