1 of 5 female Ringed Plovers
Some nice Herring gulls present.
After a morning abandonment due to thick fog I headed up to Fly Flatts late p.m. in hopes of the fog dropping something in. The fog had cleared leaving a low cloud base hiding the tops of the wind turbines with heavy rain and drizzle throughout on a NE>4 but what I call ideal reservoir watching weather, even though I did get a good soaking.
A check on the Ringed Plover family soon located the 2 juvs at 19 days old but it seemed strange how the female was moving around the area so quick until I discovered that 4 more female Ringed Plovers had appeared since yesterday.
One of yesterdays Tufted ducks was still on the water along with around 40 LBB and Herring gulls plus the flotilla of Canadas and 2 Barnacles.
Otherwise it was the usual waders but all very lively in the kind of weather that they love.
By the time I was tackling up the fog was once again rolling in and is now dense at Queensbury which doesnt look good for the morning which will make 7 foggy mornings in a row.
