Redcar Tarn in the fog a.m. / Leeshaw p.m.

Hoped this white headed Herring was the Yellow Legged
Till it flew showing bright pink legs.
First time I,ve got the Iceland flying and it had to
be in thick fog , hence poor images.

                                                    Herring
                                         Iceland
Another check for Yellow Legged but streaked head
                                    and pink legs
Leeshaw             Lapwing numbers building
                                         Pink Footed still with Greylags

                                                Great Black Backed gull >W
                                        Made the Herrings look small
                                       2 Oystercatchers still present.
                                                Pure white Greylag.

                                           Goosanders
                                            Displaying.

A grizzly, drizzly morning at Redcar Tarn, Keighley on a light S>3, heavy drizzle throughout and fog cutting visibility down to half way across the water and hardly clearing until the end of the watch.
Most of the big gulls were sticking to the field across the road from the water or the far side of the pond field with both Caspians showing through the mist in the field across the road and then by the building site.
The Iceland gull was a bit more obliging showing in the pond field as well as on the water. Typically, the first chance I,ve have of flight shots with this bird and it was in the fog and heavy drizzle so very poor images.
No sign of my todays target bird Yellow Legged Herring gull with only 3 adult Herrings present although a lady birder told me she had seen it in the pond field yesterday.
Leeshaw, late afternoon was clear but very poor light with some fine drizzle showers and the wind turned W>4.
Another target bird bit the dust as I hoped for some early Curlew pics but it failed to appear though the 2 Oyks were present but way across the water in the field.
A low count of geese but the Pinkie was still present and seems to have settled in with the Greylags.
A few Herrings through >W but nothing near on the scale of yesterday but good to get a GBB through, also >W, and being mobbed by Herrings which looked surprisingly small at the side of it which I thought was a goose from a distance.
