Out in the winds, Leeshaw, Ogden, Mixenden

 Leeshaw                                       1st winter herring
                                       Ad Lesser Black Backed.
                                             2nd winter Herring

  Ogden                              Ad  LBB

Another day of  moderate to strong winds and some heavy showers and now a good covering of snow after dark at Queensbury.
Leeshaw was reasonable with some drizzle on a SW>6 at 3 degrees but clear and birdable.
More or less the same as previous days with the 6 Oystercatchers and 3 Curlew feeding in the top fields along with 12 Stock Dove, 1 Mistle Thrush and around 30 Fieldfare.
The water held 3 Greylag and 18 Canadas but only 6 Goosanders present today. Several small gulls but only 4 Herrings >W along with 1 Great Black Backed. A group of 148 Lapwing were mobile throughout.
A quick check of Mixenden found 1pr Goosander, 2 female Goldeneye and the usual small gulls.
Thinking Ogden would be quiet with the poor weather, despite the school holidays, this turned out to be one of my ' lame under t'cap ' thoughts as it was alive with screamers all around the track. The now, 2 seperate flocks of Siskin and Redpoll seemed to have been flushed into the plantation with no sightings of them and the only saving grace was the large tit flock in the same area as the other day with the 3 usual tit species, strangely no Long Tailed yet this year, along with Goldcrests, Blackbirds, Robins, Chaffinch as well as 1 Nuthatch and 3 Treecreepers.
The water held 4 1st winter Herrings and 1 ad LBB as well as several Commons and BHGs and other than that just the usual Mallards.
