Leeshaw/Fly Flatts.

LEESHAW                    The stream well in flood again

                                         Blasting down the overflow.

                Then there were 6.  Oystercatchers.

Fly Flatts, water rising despite being bypassed.
                                              Bring on the waders
Water now up passed where they are working
West bank where the fencing is.
                                      Interesting storm clouds

After a night of torrential rain sleet and snow things calmed down early morning at Leeshaw with a moderate SW>5 at 3 degrees and just some light drizzle.
Goosander numbers were now at 15 as well as another Oystercatcher arrival bringing the total to 6 now but still just 3 Curlew.
A few Herring gull >W but nothing else on the move. Plenty Lapwing, Starling and Fieldfare in the fields but the only geese present were several small skeins of Greylag all >NW. Plenty flooding on the way to the reservoir driving through Oxenhope.
A late afternoon walk about at Fly Flatts was a touch on the wild side with a strong SW>6 and some heavy but short hail, sleet and snow showers at 4 degrees. It felt windier than it actually was with the the strength only reaching 28 m.p.h.
A very quiet session bird wise  but feeling like the time that I should start checking the shoreline . A bit of a race against time this spring wader season with Bentleys saying they should be able to start to let the reservoir water back in by early March and depending on the rainfall it should be ready to sail on by mid April but I need it low until the end of May. Hopefully it will fill enough to get the boats out but leave enough shoreline to attract the waders in.
