Just when we thought it was all over Queensbury was again gridlocked with the snow this morning continuing until 1000 hrs before brightening up and a thaw setting in.
With Fly Flatts still out of the running I chanced Leeshaw which was snowy but accessible. Geese were the bird of the day with 103 Greylag and 80 Canadas showing with several more noisy birds out of sight in distant fields. I took the 70-200mm today as well as Big Bertha with hopes of a blast off of the geese but this never happened, instead the geese left to roost in small groups all heading >NE.
The water was empty today apart from a few small gulls and a couple of Cormorants whilst at least 4 Curlew were calling up on the moor.
Only 3 Oystercatchers were present in distant fields with the Golden Plover flock ,down to around 40 today, showed briefly up over Upper Marsh where numbers in the usual field will soon be building.
