Very distant Little Grebe
Even more distant 3 Teal in very low light.
Kingfisher way down in the sluice gates.
If only the light had been good at 1545 hrs.
A call from HC at Oxenhope this morning started the day off well with the report of a single Snow Bunting over the watch point heading in the direction of Soil Hill.
Late afternoon and a text from DJS to say he had done a good check on the hill for Snow Bunting with no results so I did a quick divert down to Ogden.
The conditions were poor with very dark skies and dead calm throwing reflections onto the dark water making decent photos impossible.
A scan of the water picked up the long staying Little Grebe over in the nw corner along with 1m and 2f Wigeon. Unfortunately the Wigeon flew low, down the west side and over the prom towards Mixenden as I walked on the east bank .
Much quieter than yesterday on the passerine scene with around 30 Chaffinch and 3 Goldcrests through the alley with no sign of yesterdays Blackbirds.
Walking back toward the bread lobbing corner 3 Teal had appeared over near the west bank but very hard to see with the reflections on the water so again, just the one record snap.
1545 hrs and already coming dark so a quick look down the sluice gates before I went which was a good move as the Kingfisher was catching well in the two square ponds but with the light now well on its way, more poor photos.
Thanks to HC for the Snow Bunt tip off.
