As expected, very little time for birding today with a busy mornings work, short lunch break, half an afternoon with Lynda at the hospital then back to finish off at work.
A single Pied Wagtail was scratting for food in the Coop car park just before first light this morning on my way to work and the flock of now around 40 BH Gulls moving around the village from one food supply to another.
Two Collared Doves were on the rooftop behind the garage which is unusual but no big gulls over today.
Whilst waiting in the B.R.I. hospital this afternoon, which seemed like an eternity, we luckily got a window seat and several LBB gulls were landing on the hospital roof along with a least 3 Herring gulls, whilst 6 Mallard flew over towards Chellow Dene reservoir, just proves you can bird anywhere if you,re sad enough!
Anyway, the hospital job went well and what could have been an overnight stay got sorted quickly thanks once again to the expertise of the nurse on duty there.
Just 12 months ago to the day she was coming out of intensive care into a recovery room and now we,re on occasion visits. As the specialist said today, what a long and rocky road she,s travelled in the last 12 months and still keeps smiling, well done Lynda.
Another mile stone today was DJSs Great Northern Diver gone from Mixenden after a 7 week stay from 15th Dec 2014 until today or late yesterday. Lets hope it has a safe journey back home after all the pleasure its given to local birders. With the fish its shifted over the last few weeks its probably having to walk it.
