Back to the patch, Fly Flatts.

Female ad. Ringed Plover in moult.

                                        3 of 4 Oystercatcher juvs
                                        All just fledged
2 pr adult Pied Wags + around 7 juvs.

                                   Distant Short Eared Owl.

A grim start to the morning with low cloud and mist with heavy drizzle. By 0830 thins were looking better with full cloud but dry on a light WSW>3 at 12 degrees.
A single Ringed Plover was in the SE corner briefly before moving over to the SW overflow but keeping very mobile. The bird was heavily in moult. A good year for Oystercatchers at this site with the 2 breeding pair successfully raising 2 chicks each which are now fledged. Another 3 adults were present making 11 in all.
Other waders were just a single Common Sandpiper, 3 Curlew and a few Lapwing. Swallows and Swifts were in the air whilst a single Short Eared Owl was in the distance. Only gulls present were 3 LBB on the north shore. Otherwise, down to Meadow Pipits, Pied Wagtails and the usual Crows etc.
Back to normal tomorrow with a cloudy damp day and moderate SW increasing to strong after midday at 15 degrees.
