Another day, another drenching, Fly Flatts.

                                Oystercatcher chicks getting bolder now.

Distant Common Sandpiper on the island
Several Sand Martins feeding over the water.

A rare sighting for this site

                                    2 Golden Plover present.

Another morning of heavy rain showers but a lighter wind at SW>4 with full cloud at 8 degrees.
Despite the conditions there was plenty to keep the interest flowing though very few waders now.
The 2 Oystercatcher chicks are moving around more now but the adults keep them moving between the shore and the fields. Just a single Common Sandpiper and Dunlin this morning along with 3 Redshank plus the usual Curlew and Lapwings.
The highlight of the morning, for this site, was several Sand Martins feeding over the water alongside the Swifts, making it the largest count of Sand Martin that I.ve ever had at this site, a species I only usually get during autumn vis mig, and even then, only a low count.
Less gull movement this morning with just 4 LBBs on the north shore and a single Herring>SW.
Golden Plover have been noticeable by their absence again this year so a sighting of 2 was pleasing but missed out on Dotterel once again this May, making it 8 years since the last sighting up here.
A deteriorating day tomorrow showing a dry morning then sunshine and showers from midday on a moderate >WNW strengthening as the day goes on. A starting temp of 8 degrees.
